The Harpies episode in Aeneid 3

Abstract


The episode of the Harpies (in Aen. 3.209ff.) has often been interpreted as a consequence of Aeneas’ alleged lack of devotion: on the contrary, Vergil repeatedly stresses the Trojans’ moral integrity and blameless behaviour.
