Il mito nell’opera di Bataille

Abstract

I propose an interpretation of Bataille’s work using myth as the main category, conceived as an enduring element in the perpetual constitution of sense. This kind of narration, with its inherent circular temporality, aptly fills the void of sense left by the ‘end of History’: for Bataille a new foundation of the community is possible on this mythical ground. The failure of this project will lead him to his following works, in which he will give birth to the new myth of the ‘absence of myth’.
